Colts’ Bernhard Raimann gets $61.9 million contract update before final year of deal

The Indianapolis Colts have learned to rely on Bernhard Raimann at left tackle.

And players like that end up getting paid their due.

Raimann is entering the final season of his rookie deal. Spotrac projects he’s worth three years and $61.9 million on an extension.

The Athletic’s James Boyd thinks the Colts should make sure to get that deal done.

“Raimann, a 2022 third-round pick, is entering the final year of his four-year, $5.3 million rookie contract,” Boyd writes. “The 27-year-old struggled when he was thrust into a full-time starting role midway through his rookie season, but Raimann has emerged as one of the better left tackles in the NFL since then. He is projected to earn $20 million annually on his next contract, according to Spotrac, and he’ll have plenty of suitors if he becomes an unrestricted free agent next year. However, it would obviously behoove the Colts to work out an extension, perhaps this summer, to keep him in Indy.”

The Colts don’t necessarily know who their quarterback of the future is yet.

But left tackle is a great foundation. It’s way better to have that spot held down by a trusted presence before bringing in and molding a new QB.

If Indy can lock up Raimann, it’ll go a long way toward making the transition smoother whenever the Anthony Richardson era is over.
