It has been quite the summer for Chicago White Sox rookie Colson Montgomery. After making his Major League Baseball debut on July 20 and starting his career with a six-game hit streak, on Monday night, he joined elite Chicago White Sox history.
The 23-year-old from Jasper, Indiana, belted a solo home run to tie the game against the Detroit Tigers, which was his tenth of the season. The lefthander was the first White Sox hitter to blast ten long balls in 32 or fewer games since Jose Abreu in 2024

Overall, he is the third fastest in White Sox history. Ahead of Abreu by a single game was Zeke Bonura, who did it in 25, over 90 seasons ago.
Fewest career games to 10 home runs, White Sox history:
1934 Zeke Bonura: 25
2014 Jose Abreu: 26
2025 Colson Montgomery: 32 https://t.co/JV82SCSeb5— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) August 12, 2025
The bad news is, the Chicago White Sox lost. Again. The White Sox are now 43-76, deep in the American League Central basement. Spencer Torkelson hit a tiebreaking home run in the top of the ninth inning to give the Tigers the lead, and Will Vest picked up his 17th save in the game.
Chicago had just four hits in the game. Montgomery, the starting shortstop, now has 120 plate appearances on the season, and is hitting .241, with 16 runs scored and 26 runs batted in.
The same two teams will play again on Tuesday evening, before a day game on Wednesday.
