The Colorado Avalanche have reportedly signed forward Victor Olofsson to a 1 year contract that will come in with an amount approximately around $1.5 million via “Puck Pedia.”
This signing takes one of the last remaining NHL level forwards off the free agent table in what has been a dry period of the offseason. The 7 year Swedish veteran last played with the Vegas Golden Knights the previous season, recording 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points in 56 regular season games. In the playoffs, he touted 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points in 9 games in the first postseason appearance of his career.
Prior to his stint in Vegas, Olofsson spent the prior 6 years of his tenure in Buffalo with the Sabres organization, the franchise that drafted him in the 7th round of the 2014 draft. During his time in Buffalo, Olofsson scored 90 goals and added 92 assists for 182 points in 314 games.
What will Olofsson provide the Avs?
Victor Olofsson is a known powerplay specialist, it is on the special teams where he delivers the most of his goals. He should slot in nicely on the Avs 2nd unit, providing a scoring punch with his deadly shot. He also provides Colorado with some more much needed secondary scoring depth in their lineup that is very top heavy.
Over the entire duration of his 370 game career, Olofsson has totaled 105 goals and 106 assists for 211 points in the regular season.
