Clippers may cut ties with Kawhi Leonard via trade to Raptors

Player reunions are always exciting, especially when returning assets have already succeeded with the respective franchises.

The Los Angeles Clippers may join the fun by sending their superstar forward to the Toronto Raptors this season.

“Can we get a reunion in this video,” YouTube user ‘SROS’ said Monday.

“Somebody that won a title with this team we’re going to have in a trade. Let’s get Kawhi Leonard back to Toronto.”

SROS’ trade proposal would send Leonard to the Clippers for RJ Barrett, Kelly Olynyk, and Gradey Dick.

In 2018, the Raptors made a shocking blockbuster trade for Leonard, who spent the first seven years of his career with the San Antonio Spurs.

Leonard guided the Spurs to a championship in 2014, but his relationship with the Spurs deteriorated over time.

During his lone season with the Raptors, the mid-range shooting guru and defensive mastermind helped Toronto defeat the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 NBA finals, averaging 30.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in 24 postseason contests.

As a free agent in 2019, Leonard signed with the Clippers, which, to this point, hasn’t worked out well for the two-time NBA champion.

Leonard’s tenure with Los Angeles has been riddled with injuries, causing many fans to wait for the next devastating lower body setback.

If the Clippers were to ship Leonard to the Raptors, they would receive a confident star in Barrett, a high-upside wing in Dick, and a battle-tested forward in Olynyk in return.

Don’t be surprised if the Clippers and Raptors are next in line regarding blockbuster deals.
