The PGA Tour rolls into the Lone Star State this week as the CJ Cup Byron Nelson tees off Thursday at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, just outside Dallas.
While the field isn’t packed with marquee names due to its tricky spot on the calendar, wedged between a signature event and the PGA Championship, there’s still plenty of intrigue with local heroes Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth set to headline the action.
A total of 156 players will take to the course for the opening two rounds, but only the top 65 and ties will make the cut for the weekend showdown.
This year’s edition boasts a prize purse of $9.9 million, an increase from last year, with the champion walking away with a hefty $1.71 million and 500 FedExCup points. Even those just sneaking in at 65th will pocket $20,425.
Scheffler, the current World No. 1, is still searching for this first title this season despite a string of solid performances. As for Spieth, the fan favorite is still working his way back from wrist surgery, but the familiar Dallas surroundings and supportive crowd could be just the boost he needs to make a serious run this weekend.

The CJ Cup will air on Golf Channel nationally. CBS will carry the final hours of the third and fourth round, beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, and Sunday.
