The Kansas City Chiefs have many key players hitting free agency. However, one particular player leaving could upset Patrick Mahomes more than others.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Mahomes advocated for the Chiefs to sign Marquise “Hollywood” Brown last offseason and is expected to do the same this offseason. TWSN’s Daniel Alameda predicted Brown would betray the Chiefs and sign with the Buffalo Bills this offseason.
“They would want him as a wide receiver three versus other teams, like the Bills will value him much higher,” wrote Alameda. “If the Chiefs can get him for three to five million, that could be a major win, but a team like the Buffalo Bills who don’t have Xavier Worthy will be willing to allocate more dollars to him.”
Brown has 3,735 career receiving yards and 28 touchdowns. He spent the last five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs were hoping that playing with Mahomes could lead to a career year. Brown was signed to be a deep threat for Mahomes and the offense.
However, an injury in the preseason kept him from playing much. He played in just two games for the Chiefs and never got to develop a real connection with Mahomes. After finishing the season with just 91 yards, losing Brown would not be a big blow for the Chiefs. However, if Mahomes truly wants him around, his joining the Bills would sting.
