Premier League champions Liverpool will seek to prevent their recent blip from turning into something a little more severe when they travel to Chelsea on Saturday.
Crystal Palace ended a perfect start to the league season from Arne Slot’s men last weekend, when they claimed a dramatic 2-1 win at Selhurst Park.
Liverpool were then beaten 1-0 at Galatasaray this midweek in the Champions League.
Chelsea beat Benfica in Europe’s top competition but go into this game on the back of two consecutive Premier League defeats to Manchester United and Brighton. Head coach Enzo Maresca was undermined by red cards, to Robert Sanchez and Trevoh Chalobah respectively, in those matches.

1 hr 30 mins before kickoff: So where exactly are this Liverpool team? Five wins out of five to start the season, with a handful of those late. Winning when you’re not playing well? The sign of champions! Then defeats at Crystal Palace and Galatasaray when not playing well, which is just outright not very good. Will the blip become a forboding hoot today against a Chelsea side who, in their modern day iteration, often seem stuck in a loop of nonsensical Morse Code. Enzo Maresca’s men did not win a Premier League game in September and have lost their past two in England’s top flight.
