Chelsea is set for a huge summer transfer window with a number of incomings and outgoings certain to take place at the club.
One area that the Blues will be looking to strengthen in particular is at centre-back, as they look for an experienced head who can lead from the back.
However, according to a report by CaughtOffisde, experience could be a negotiable requirement as the Blues are now being linked with a move for 2o-year-old Valencia defender, Cristhian Mosquera.
It is understood that the 20-year-old is attracting interest from the likes of the Blues, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig.
Reportedly, Chelsea will soon ‘initiate talks’ over signing the Spain Under-21 international. The report adds that La Liga club Valencia may be open to selling Mosquera for as little as €25m (£21m) because he’s out of contract with them in 2026.
Many Blues supporters will argue that the club needs to prioritise adding some more experience to the backline.

This school of thought has been supported by the likes of Ian Wright who believes that Chelsea need to sign a central defender in the mould of their former captain Thiago Silva to help guide the youngsters at the back.
However, the latest transfer rumours involving Mosquera indicate that the transfer policy to recruit young stars for the future isn’t going away.
Why Cristhian Mosquera for £21m would be too good to miss out on
While at just 20 years of age, Mosquera is not the experienced head that Chelsea needs at the back, he certainly has the ability to develop into a world-class player in the years to come.
The Spanish youngster is an extremely talented centre-half with great strength, speed and experience. He fits the bill as a modern-day defender who’s great on the ball, too.
Despite his youth, Mosquera has already played 89 first-team games in Valencia colours. He has continued to impress in the Spanish top division this campaign as well.
As Chelsea prepare for discussions with Valencia’s rising star, it will be interesting to see if he buys into the Blues project.
