Chelsea didn’t have the best start to the 2025/26 Premier League with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace in the opening weekend.
However, the Blues have turned it around in the next two fixtures with a 5-1 win over West Ham United followed by a 2-0 victory against Fulham.
Unlike the West Ham clash, the win over Fulham wasn’t devoid of controversy as Fulham found the net early on in the game, but it got cancelled by VAR due to a foul in the buildup.
Taking advantage of a lucky escape, the Blues asserted themselves as Joao Pedro stepped up and headed home to hand Chelsea the lead right at the stroke of halftime.
In the second half, Fulham awarded a penalty to Chelsea which Enzo Fernandez dispatched with full conviction as he doubled the lead.
The Cottagers tried their best and had their moments, but they didn’t do enough to salvage anything from their trip to Stamford Bridge.

With a goal and an assist, it was an excellent outing for Enzo, who has been a consistent performance for the Blues since the turn of this year.
As per Squawka, the Argentina international has provided more assists than any other Premier League players across all competitions in 2025 (10 assists).
The 24-year-old midfielder finished the game with 12 final third entries, five touches in the opposition penalty area, three chances created, three crosses, three duels won, two interceptions, three possessions won and 69 touches in total.
Enzo has mustered 18 goal contributions across all competitions in 2025 as Chelsea continue to prove that they are a proper contender for the Premier League title this season.
What did Enzo Maresca say about Liam Delap’s injury?
Despite Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham, it was Liam Delap’s injury which grabbed more attention
The English striker, who started the game upfront for the Blues, clutched his hamstring around the 15th minute mark and couldn’t continue any further.
Tyrique George came on for Delap, forcing Pedro to move in a more central role upfront and the move paid dividends considering the Brazilian’s fiery form in front of goal.
However, the cause of concern for Chelsea now is that apart from Pedro and George, who is also a candidate for sale, the Blues do not have any other player to play upfront.
Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, who were the other two options are on the verge of leaving the West London outfit. While Jackson is moving on loan to Bayern Munich, Nkunku is making a permanent switch to AC Milan.
Following the game, Maresca was asked about Delap’s injury and the Italian clearly stated, “Liam’s injury doesn’t look good, it was a full-speed hamstring, that will require weeks. In terms of another striker, we will see if we take any decisions.”
As per TNT Sports, the Italian manager highlighted that the English striker could be out of six to eight weeks considering the type of the injury.
It will be interesting to see if this injury forces Chelsea to move for another forward in the transfer market or they could decide to hold on to Jackson, cancelling his loan move to Germany.
