Chelsea star at centre of surprise transfer exchange with Premier League rivals

Chelsea are leaving no stone unturned in their attempts to part ways with Nicolas Jackson before the September 1 transfer deadline.

The Blues have decided the Senegal international is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge after the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

That stance is boosted by a number of clubs reportedly remaining interested in signing Jackson during the ongoing transfer window.

Aston Villa are one of the sides who have maintained a long-standing interest in signing Jackson, via manager Unai Emery, who has previously worked with the 24-year-old at Villarreal.

It has also been revealed Jackson would love to reunite with his former manager at Villa Park this summer.

Now, the Villans have gone a step further, and are set to offer one of their star players in exchange for Jackson in the coming weeks.

Aston Villa to offer Morgan Rogers to confirm Nicolas Jackson deal

However, Aston Villa are not the only team interested in securing Jackson’s services this summer.

Villa’s Premier League rivals, Newcastle United, are also tracking him, amid the constant uncertainty over Alexander Isak’s status on Tyneside.

The Magpies are convinced Jackson is a suitable option for them, after missing out on a host of transfer targets this summer.

However, transfer expert Greame Bailey told the Chelsea Chronicle: “I expect Jackson to go. From my understanding at the moment, I think he’s more likely to go to Villa with Emery.

“It could help Chelsea and Villa’s relationship, where if Chelsea really want Morgan Rogers – we know they’re desperate for Rogers at some point – if they make it easier for Villa to sign Jackson, they’re not going to forget that.

“I think they can do a ‘behind-the-scenes’ where Chelsea secure first option on Morgan Rogers as part of that deal. All these conversations will be happening. I think there’s a real chance that Jackson ends up at Villa.”

Chelsea have had a long-standing interest in Rogers, and a swap deal between him and Jackson could be an ideal way to land their target.
