Chelsea set to battle Premier League rivals for Dutch defender

Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries has been linked with a move away from the club in the coming months.

The 29-year-old has expressed a desire to explore a new challenge outside of Italy and has his sights set on a move to the Premier League.

If the Dutchman is indeed interested in a move to the English top flight, there are a number of clubs who would be interested in signing him.

The versatile defender who can operate as a right back as well as a wing back would be a useful addition to several clubs.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are one of the clubs that are said to be interested in signing him.

However, the Blues are set to face competition from two of their Premier League rivals for the player’s signature.

Chelsea set to battle Premier League rivals for Denzel Dumfries

According to a report via Fichajes, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea could consider signing him in the coming months.

Given the player’s ability to play multiple positions, he would be an astute addition to all three teams.

Manchester United could use more quality and depth in the full-back areas, and signing the experienced defender would be ideal.

He knows what it takes to play for a big club, and he has won major trophies in his career. He could make an instant impact and help Manchester United improve.

On the other hand, Chelsea could use someone of Dumfries’ calibre as an upgrade on the likes of Reece James and Malo Gusto, who both had their share of injury issues in the past.

Finally, Arsenal are the least likely to sign the player as they have enough defensive depth in their squad at the moment.

Even if they sign the defender, it is hard to see him break into the starting eleven ahead of their existing options.

Given that Dumfries is at the peak of his powers, he will look to join a club where he will play regularly. He will also want to join an ambitious project where he can win major trophies.
