Chelsea are reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window and are looking to sign Brighton shot-stopper Bart Verbruggen.
According to a report by Givemesport, Chelsea have added Verbruggen to their shortlist of options in case they decide to seek a shot-stopping upgrade, having seen him put in consistent Premier League performances this season.
However, Brighton are convinced that the Dutch international will not swap the Amex Stadium for Stamford Bridge in the upcoming transfer window.
Chelsea currently find themselves in fifth place in the Premier League table, and their chances of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League hang by a thread.
Enzo Maresca’s team have looked vulnerable at the back on many occasions this season, and therefore it comes as no surprise that they have been linked with a number of defensive reinforcements, including a new goalkeeper.
Though Chelsea have largely chosen to go with Robert Sanchez in goal this season, the Spanish international has looked far from convincing and has failed to make the number one position his own.

Why Bart Verbruggen to Chelsea makes sense
Chelsea are on the lookout for a goalkeeper who can help them play out from the back while being good with his hands, and Bart Verbruggen fits that bill perfectly.
Though Verbruggen has kept only six clean sheets in 33 Premier League matches so far this season, he has looked convincing and given a good account of himself, and interest from a club like Chelsea is a testament to that.
Given his performances this season, it is only a matter of time before Verbruggen moves to a bigger club, and perhaps a big enough transfer fee could convince Brighton to sell.
