Chelsea have secured another long-term addition to their future squad, agreeing a deal to sign Dutch striker Emanuel Emegha from Strasbourg in 2026.
The move, while fully legal, has stirred debate once again because of the close ties between the two clubs under BlueCo ownership.
Emegha, 22, has been one of Ligue 1’s most promising forwards. He struck 14 goals and added three assists in 27 league games last season.
Strasbourg made him captain this year, and he has already scored three times in four matches.
Despite interest from Champions League clubs, he preferred to stay put for now, lead his team in Europe, and then head to Stamford Bridge on a seven-year contract.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano broke the news, writing: “EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea will sign Emanuel Emegha in 2026, pre agreement done. Here we go!” The announcement sparked mixed reactions among fans who worry about the fairness of moves between sister clubs.

Another player crossing the BlueCo bridge
Emegha becomes the 10th player to move between Strasbourg and Chelsea since the French side was bought in 2023.
That conveyor belt of talent has raised eyebrows, with critics suggesting Chelsea are effectively treating Strasbourg as a farm club.
Still, the Blues insist the partnership is part of long-term planning.
The striker is expected to compete with Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Marc Guiu when he finally joins. Nicolas Jackson, currently on loan at Bayern Munich, may depart permanently, opening space in the attack.
For Chelsea, it is a classic case of stacking the deck before the big games kick off.
The waiting game
The real intrigue is the timing. Emegha will stay at Strasbourg until 2026, meaning Chelsea must wait two more years before seeing him in blue.
For fans, it feels like being 2–0 up at halftime and waiting nervously for the final whistle.
What cannot be doubted is his talent. Whether this move proves a masterstroke or another debate over football ethics, Stamford Bridge will soon welcome a striker with serious potential.
