Chelsea make decision on star player’s future ahead of summer arrivals

After an impressive first season under Enzo Maresca, where they qualified for the UEFA Champions League and won the UEFA Conference League, Chelsea are in the middle of a busy transfer window.

The Blues have agreed on the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and have now turned their attention to other areas of the pitch that they need to strengthen.

But while the Chelsea fans get excited about the potential arrivals, it is also important to keep an eye on the possible departures that may take place at the club.

Trevoh Chalobah is one player who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old defender spent half of the recently concluded season on loan at Crystal Palace before returning to cement a place in the heart of Enzo Maresca’s defence in January.

Though Chalobah impressed with his performances at Chelsea in the second half of the season, he is expected to leave the club as soon as the Blues sign another defender.

Journalist Simon Phillips reported via Substack that Chelsea are expected to let Chalobah leave the club once they sign a new central defender or two.

He explains that Premier League side Bournemouth are the latest club to show a ‘keen interest’ in signing the Blues centre-half.

Andoni Iraola’s side is looking at Chalobah. On paper, he could be a decent replacement for Dean Huijsen after the Cherries sold the young centre-half to Real Madrid.

If the reports above are true, Chelsea will need to add a new defensive option before Chalobah leaves.

Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, 19, has been linked with a potential move to West London in the summer transfer window.

Reportedly, the Blues will begin imminent discussions about the versatile defender, who can cover centre-half or left-back.
