Former Chelsea midfielder Ramires is a huge fan of one player currently catching the eye in Enzo Maresca’s squad.
Maresca stars have rally stepped up this summer, following their UEFA Conference League crown with an outstanding FIFA Club World Cup title win in the USA.
Chelsea lifted the trophy after dominantly beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final of the expanded tournament with Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro on target in New Jersey.
Joao Pedro has quickly established himself as an instant fans favourite despite only arriving at Chelsea at the beginning of July.
However, Ramires did not pick his Brazilian compatriot out as his favourite Chelsea player at the moment, nor Palmer or Moises Caicedo.
Instead, it was another Chelsea star, with a similar style to Ramires, according to the man himself.

Ramires compares himself to revived Chelsea star
During his playing career, Ramires was known for his high-energy bursts from midfield and an unerring ability to make crucial tackles, just like Caicedo.
However, Enzo Fernandez is the Chelsea player he’s compared himself to, partly because of the way the Argentine arrives late into the opposition penalty box.
While Ramires did a lot of dirty work for his Chelsea team, he was also capable of popping up with a big goal, something Fernandez has been doing of late.
In an interview with X user Darko Baba, Ramires said: “The current team has lots of talent, but I really like Enzo Fernandez, perhaps because I see in him with a style similar to mine, with grit, strong tackling and arriving in attack.
“He’s a young player, but with personality, game vision and lots of technical quality. He has everything to continue being a reference in Chelsea’s midfield for many years.”
In his time at Chelsea, Ramires had an indelible impact on the club, and Chelsea fans will be hoping that Fernandez, too, can follow in his footsteps.
