
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have officially opened talks with Ajax over the signing of highly rated Dutch star Jorrel Hato.
The teenage defender is rumoured to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge and has indicated his willing to agree personal terms with the Blues.
Given this situation, negotiations between the two clubs are now underway, and a deal could be agreed due to the good relationship between them.
Hato has impressed with his maturity and versatility at centre-back for Ajax, with an emergence on to the radar of several top European clubs, including Liverpool.
However, Chelsea look to have gained an edge in the race to sign him, after making formal contact with the Dutch giants.
The 19-year-old’s willingness to join Chelsea is a significant boost, who continue their policy of signing the best young players from across Europe.

Romano’s report suggests there is genuine optimism on all sides that a deal can be reached in the coming days, although the transfer fee and structure are still being discussed.
Hato’s current contract in Amsterdam runs until 2028 – putting Ajax in a strong position – with an estimated transfer value of around €35m [$41m].
Should the move go through, Hato would become Chelsea first defensive acquisition of the summer, following the arrivals of Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap amongst others.
