If Chelsea are to be successful in their drive for Kudus, Maresca will have to see of competition from domestic rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, plus interest from the Saudi Pro League.
However, Chelsea could have an important advantage, as Philips adds that Kudus sees the move to West London as ideal for him. The player’s preference could prove to be decisive if a transfer battle ensues for his signature in the weeks ahead.
