Chargers connected to several high-profile post-draft cut candidates

The 2025 NFL Draft is just days away and the Los Angeles Chargers have their primary plan of attack in place by this point. But could the team be plotting a big move after the draft is over?

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report put together a list of 10 notable cut or trade candidates following the draft. Looking at that list, the Chargers have been connected to many of these players in predicted trades this offseason.

The list includes Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander, Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert and Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who has recently been mentioned as a trade possibility after the team’s general manager, Chris Grier, stated that it’s in the best interest of both parties to move on.

Moton put together a hypothetical trade in which the Chargers would get Ramsey for this year’s third-round pick (No. 86 overall).

Several projections have been made in which the team acquires either Andrews or Goedert. The team could desperately use a better option at the tight end position, so either of those players makes plenty of sense. With Ramsey and Alexander both being cornerbacks, that could indicate that analysts around the league see those two positions as areas where the Chargers could look for an immediate upgrade.

Are Joe Hortiz and Jim Harbaugh viewing things the same way heading into the draft? Do they have tight end and cornerback as the top two positions on their draft board, or could they wait until after the draft to see if one of these players is cut to look to swoop in and grab them? Or, does the team want to wait until after the draft to look to acquire one of them in a trade?

These possibilities raise several questions and they make the draft that much more intriguing for the Chargers.
