All Boston Celtics trade rumors are pointing to the team looking to make a Jrue Holiday trade before the offseason is over. With Jayson Tatum out for potentially all of next season, the Celtics are looking to lower their salary cap bill, and Holiday is looking like he may be the odd man out. Let’s look at one recent Celtics trade idea from Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report and see if his risky Holiday trade idea is worth it for the Celtics.
Bailey’s trade proposal looks like this:
Boston Celtics receive: Norman Powell, Kris Dunn, and Cam Christie
Los Angeles Clippers receive: Jrue Holiday
Because the recent Celtics trade rumors have Holiday likely on his way out, the Celtics need to decide what kind of return they want for him. For all intents and purposes this would be quite a nice haul for the Celtics to receive in a Holiday trade.
If the Celtics choose not to go for draft picks in a potential Holiday trade, getting a player like Norman Powell would be a solid pick-up.
Powell averaged over 20 points a game last season for the Clippers, and Kris Dunn had one of his better seasons of late.

Powell is on a much more reasonable contract than Holiday. He is also a few years younger. He could fill the role as a secondary scorer with Tatum out, and become a third or fourth option once Tatum comes back.
If the Celtics aren’t that interested in staying relevant this season, a Holiday trade package centered around draft capital may be more interesting. But, if they want to stay in the playoff race and grab a couple of solid players for the future in the process, this Celtics trade idea could be worth going for.
