Reports have now indicated that the Boston Celtics could move on from any player on their roster, except for Jayson Tatum. While moving on from somebody like Derrick White or Jaylen Brown would be a bit questionable, the Celtics understand that this is a business, and they have to do what’s best for the organization.
Regarding Brown, he and Tatum have been with the organization for quite some time now and have seen it all. From the highs to the lows, the Celtics fan favorites are one of the best duos in the NBA, if not the best in the league.
However, with Tatum’s injury, it opens the door to potentially moving on from the Finals MVP.
In a proposed trade idea from Sports Illustrated, the Celtics would do just that in a deal with the San Antonio Spurs. The trade would bring back three players, including the second overall pick and more.
Boston Celtics receive: Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, Malaki Branham, 2nd overall pick, 2028 1st via BOS (nullifies swap rights), 2031 1st SWAP via SAC or SAS
San Antonio Spurs receive: Jaylen Brown
“Looking at this deal for the Celtics, they add a scoring wing in Vassell, who not only helps the deal in terms of salary but will only be 25 by the start of next season. Given how well the last time the Celtics traded for a Spurs guard went, Boston shouldn’t see an issue,” they wrote.

This would be a significant haul for Brown, but it’s also one that the Spurs could consider if they don’t have to include the second overall pick.
The second pick in the draft is very valuable, but so is Brown.
