Boston Celtics former Head Coach and now General Manager Brad Stevens isn’t shy on the trade market.
He is responsible for bringing in key pieces like Derrick White, Kristaps Porziņģis, and Jrue Holiday, which boosted them to their championship win in 2024.
Now they are faced with financial difficulties, and may shake things up.
With Jayson Tatum sidelined for either all of, or most of next season, Yahoo Sports NBA Analys, Kevin O’Connor recently announced the Celtics are willing to give up just about anybody but Tatum.
“Most recently I’ve heard they are open to trading anyone but Tatum, but it is conflicting,” O’Connor said on his podcast Tuesday.
Should the Celtics make a trade involving one of their key players, it will likely be for financial reasons as they hold the league’s most expensive roster ever.

Tatum and long-time running mate Jaylen Brown have been sharing the court together for almost a decade now.
Boston’s front office was able to put together a championship roster, but amidst Tatum’s Achilles injury, the team could see some changes.
Plenty of teams in the league could be in the market for a defensive-minded guard who has championship DNA like Jrue Holiday, or a floor-stretching rim-protector big man like Porziņģis.
Both of which have been rumored in trades. Now, with this recent announcement, players like Brown, White, and others are not safe either.
The Celtics’ season ended in an unfortunate way, and there is no doubt that the league is better when Tatum is on the floor. However, this won’t stop the Celtics from doing what is best for their roster.
