Celtics’ NBA champion leaving NBA to sign contract in Israel

Oshae Brissett has shown promise at times in his NBA career. He was even an NBA champion with the Boston Celtics.

But he has chosen to head overseas to continue his basketball career.

The former Syracuse star is going to Israel to play with Maccabi Tel Aviv, that team announced in a press release.

Brissett has played for the Raptors, Pacers and 76ers in addition to the Celtics.

The 6-foot-7 forward played in the G League for most of the 2024-25 season along with six games for the 76ers.

“It’s great to bring a former NBA champion to Tel Aviv,” Maccabi Tel Aviv general manager Claudio Coldebella said in a statement. “From the beginning he was our first choice. He’s a player who fits our system and his teammates, who can play in various positions, and who, thanks to his athleticism, energy, and desire to compete, is always very useful in many aspects of the game. We can’t wait to welcome Oshae to the Maccabi family.”

Brissett is 27 years old. A strong year or two overseas could get him one more NBA chance.

In his NBA career, he has averaged 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
