Celtics might regret Kristaps Porzingis trade after recent health update

Kristaps Porzingis wasn’t able to show up when it mattered most this past postseason, as he dealt with a post-viral issue from the regular season.

More than one reason played into the Celtics’ choosing to part ways with Kristaps Porzingis this offseason, but either way, a recent update could be salt in the wound for the team’s front office.

Kristaps Porzingis gives update on his health

Recent quotes from Porzingis surfaced, indicating that he’s currently in much better health than a few months ago (basketnews.com).

Porzingis said, “In June, I fully rested and lowered the intensity. All of that has gone away. I haven’t felt any of the playoff symptoms anymore. I feel great and ready to join the national team. Super happy.”

Porzingis will be on the roster for Latvia in the upcoming EuroBasket tournament that starts in a few weeks.

Choosing to play in the tournament alone seems to be a positive sign, as he’s voluntarily choosing to be a part of it.

It would be hard to imagine him participating if he didn’t feel close to 100%.

Porzingis was traded to the Hawks in the offseason, after two years with the Celtics, including a championship season in 2023-24.

Porzingis will turn 30 years old in a few days, and still has a lot of years in the league ahead of him.

In the 2024-25 regular season, he averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 blocks in 42 games.

He also shot a career-high 41.2 3P% last season.

If he can stay healthy with Atlanta next season, the Hawks could be a very dangerous team in the Eastern Conference.
