There might be no team in the league with a more interesting offseason than the Boston Celtics.
After winning the NBA title in 2024, the Celtics struggled to live up to expectations again this season, falling in the second round. With a massive payroll and Jayson Tatum’s Achilles tear expected to keep him out for a large chunk of next season, the Celtics have been projected by many to be sellers this offseason.
While the Celtics are expected to move off a number of their massive contracts, such as Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, they are still looking to contend for a title. While it might be a difficult feat to remain at the top of the East if they trade away some key players, that could be where they make some moves elsewhere.
As Grant Afseth of RG recently reported, the Celtics are among the teams expected to pursue a trade-up in the upcoming draft. Currently, the Celtics hold the 28th and 32nd picks, but they could use those selections to get to a better spot in the first round.
Considering Boston’s financial situation, it is far from surprising that the team would want to add some young talent at a cheap price. If the team can get someone capable of contributing immediately, it would be a perfect situation.

Sure, the Celtics might not be in the best spot moving forward, but with their top-end talent, just a few key role players could be enough to get them back into the Finals.
