The Boston Celtics are expected to make Jrue Holiday available during the offseason, looking to save money.
Holiday, who is still a very good player at the stage of his career, is no longer what he once was. However, there should still be multiple teams interested in adding the two-time NBA champion.
According to a recent report from Jake Fischer, one of the teams that will be interested in landing him is the Sacramento Kings.
He added that the Kings are looking to improve their playmaking during the offseason, and with Holiday being a defensive-first guard who can make plays for himself and his teammates, there are reasons to believe he could make perfect sense for what Sacramento is looking for.
“New general manager Scott Perry, remember, immediately highlighted the Kings’ need for improved playmaking during his introductory press conference and sources have duly linked Sacramento to various guards known to be available this summer. That list includes Holiday in Boston and Marcus Smart in Washington … and stretches to more affordable free agent ballhandlers like Malcolm Brogdon,” he said.

If the Celtics could get a young player in return and a pick or two, this is the type of deal that makes perfect sense.
With them heading into a potential gap year due to Jayson Tatum’s injury, there’s truly no reason to have Holiday on the roster, unless they plan to keep him around after that and want to make another push with their current core in 2026-27.
After averaging 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Holiday put up better numbers with a team like the Kings.
