How bad is Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown’s torn meniscus?
Following Boston’s exit from the playoffs, reports surfaced that Brown had been playing for some time with a partially torn meniscus.
On Monday, Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens met with reporters, and not surprisingly, fielded questions about Brown’s knee.
Here’s what Stevens said, per multiple Celtics beat writers.
Per CLNS Media’s Noa Dalzell:
“What was reported this weekend, that’s been something that he’s had for a while,” Stevens said. “I think he actually felt better, at least he told me he felt better at the end of the Knicks series.”
“The knee’s in a good place, structurally. I think he felt comfortable going out there. Hopefully, he’ll feel better after being off of it for a few weeks.”

“Jaylen wants to play,” Stevens added, per Taylor Snow. “Jaylen’s a competitor. Jaylen’s a warrior. Jaylen takes great pride in being out there.”
Brown averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game for the Celtics in 2024-25.
The 2024 NBA Finals MVP will be relied upon heavily next season to shoulder the burden of a first option, as Brown’s superstar teammate Jayson Tatum is expected to miss the entire campaign while recovering from Achilles surgery.
Stevens expressed full faith in Brown on Monday, and it sounds like the 28-year-old’s knee will be just fine.
