Cavs linked to former No. 2 overall pick as exciting free agent signing

The Cleveland Cavaliers have an open roster spot.

They might use it to bring in a former No. 2 overall pick.

Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor links the Cavs to free agent guard Victor Oladipo.

Oladipo went one slot after the Cavs chose Anthony Bennett to start the 2013 NBA Draft.

Then, Oladipo went No. 2.

He was a two-time All Star once he went from Orlando to Oklahoma City to Indiana.

Then he played for the Rockets and Heat.

Oladipo last played in the 2022-23 NBA season, when he tore his left patellar tendon while playing for the Heat in the playoffs.

After a recent workout, Oladipo delivered a message on X.

“I feel so great right now!!” Oladipo wrote on X. “Better than I felt in the last 7 years mind, body and soul. I know I am a fighter! I know I am a warrior! I have seen every lens this game and this league has to offer. I know I can help any team in any role win in any way! I also know the people want to see me succeed in this game and play at the highest level again. My injuries are behind me and it will never happen again! I am at peace with that and my past. I’m ready to build a present now and future of a life time.”

Maybe he’ll bring that energy to Cleveland.
