The Cleveland Cavaliers will spend Monday holding their breath.
Superstar Donovan Mitchell is scheduled for an MRI, coach Kenny Atkinson said after Sunday’s Game 4 loss to the Pacers in Indiana.
Mitchell hurt his left ankle and will get the full testing done.
The Mitchell injury appeared to occur before the start of the second half during a bit of warmups.
The Cavs quickly ruled Mitchell doubtful, and he never returned to the game.
The Cavaliers were well on their way to a 20-point loss in which they trailed by more than that for most of the night, so Mitchell may have gotten some resting time anyway.
Now, though, the season hangs in the balance and Mitchell’s status is uncertain.

The MRI will probably tell most of the story. They’ll either know that something is very torn and injured, or they’ll have to do some more tests.
There’s always a chance they say that truly nothing is wrong at all, which would confused everyone.
But for now, it seems like everything should work out, knock on wood.
