Cardinals QB Kyler Murray uses trade rumors to compare himself to Kobe Bryant

Kyler Murray is often floated as the subject of trade rumors.

The Arizona Cardinals have never seemed that likely to look into dealing him, but that doesn’t stop speculation.

Murray wants nothing to do with the rumors, though. He doesn’t want to leave.

He’s actually so committed to the Cardinals that he compared himself to NBA and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

“If I could play my whole career here, finish it out here, sign me up,” Murray told local TV station 12 News Tonight. “Guys like Kobe, Kobe played for one organization his whole career. That’s something I admire, and that’s something I want to do.”

Murray has been a dynamic dual-threat QB through six NFL seasons, but the Cardinals have only made the playoffs once.

He’s a unique player, both in his small stature and his elite speed. He was even a top-10 MLB Draft pick.

Murray is aiming big for his seventh year in the league.

“We’ve only played in one playoff game since I got here,” Murray said, “which is very frustrated. I’m more motivated than ever.”

If we’re sticking with the Kobe comparison for a minute, Bryant had a lot more postseason success early in his career than Murray.

The Cardinals QB will be hoping to change that while wearing the same colors for his whole career.
