As the dust settles on free agency, there’s still a few diamonds in the rough.
One hidden gem could fit in perfectly with the Cardinals.
Arizona is coming off a disappointing 8-9 season despite boasting a core of Kyler Murray, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Trey McBride.
That’s why one veteran wide receiver could be the perfect addition to this young unit.
Brandon Austin of Pro Football Network suggested that wideout Keenan Allen should join Arizona in a supporting role.
He offers something Arizona doesn’t have at the moment — a consistent veteran who understands how to thrive from the slot and complement a star wideout,” Austin wrote. “He could be a reliable third option for Kyler Murray in the passing game.”
Allen is one of the best wide receivers left in the free agent pool. Last season with Chicago he had 70 receptions for 744 yards and 7 touchdowns with Caleb Williams’ leading the offense.
The six-time Pro Bowler’s best days are behind him. He had four seasons of 100 receptions and 1,000 yards with the Chargers as a main option, but now he’s better suited as a trusty, veteran target.
The 33 year old could provide a secure presence in the slot or outside for Kyler Murray. He already has McBride as a big body and Harrison Jr. as a developing star that can make big plays. Allen would be a good option in short yardage and red zone situations.
Insane: 6x Pro Bowler Keenan Allen is somehow still a free agent despite being a top receiver in the NFL.

If the season began today, Michael Wilson or Zay Jones would slide into the role of Murray’s third target. Would Allen be an upgrade? It’s not a definitive answer either way, but he has a longer resume than anybody on Arizona’s offense.
The Cardinals just have to decide if he still has gas in the tank.
