Cardinals’ front office responds to significant attendance drop

Not much was expected from the St. Louis Cardinals ahead of Opening Day this season. However, they started the year with their right foot forward, getting out to well above .500, and looked like they could be a team to compete in the National League Central.

As we got deeper into the season, the club started to unravel and look like the team many had expected to see in 2025. Going into Tuesday, they hold a 62-64 record, 18 games behind the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers and five games out of a wild card spot.

At neither point this season have the fans packed the historic Busch Stadium. They are making their voices heard that they want to see change in their organization and return to their winning ways.

Cardinals’ Joe Strohm backs fans’ frustrations

The front office has certainly heard the fans’ frustrations. Vice President for Ticket Sales Joe Strohm spoke with Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, stating the fans have every right to stay home..

“That’s the one thing: Fans have a right to vote their pleasure or displeasure, and we know there is work to get people back. We have to earn them back. That’s the entertainment industry. You’ve got to earn people’s discretionary income,” said Strohm.

Strohm understands where the fans are coming from. They do not want to spend their hard-earned money on a product that is not as good as it possibly could be. St. Louis’ front office will certainly have their work cut out for them over the offseason.
