Cardinals expected to part ways with two-time All-Star after 2025

The St. Louis Cardinals have already rid themselves of two pitchers after the trade deadline, and a third one could be on the docket for the team.

According to Zachary Rotman of FanSided, he believes that the Red Birds could be close to cutting ties with starting pitcher Miles Mikolas, and that “starting Mikolas every fifth day doesn’t help St. Louis’ organization.”

It would make more sense for the team to wait until the end of the season, as the team cutting Mikolas at this point in the season would likely cause some tension between the two sides, as the Cardinals still have a chance at making the playoffs at this point in time.

His elite days on the mound are well in the past, and his 4.97 ERA, while it is a step up from his 5.35 from last year, his stats are still well below average, and he’s been pretty generous with the amount of home runs he has surrendered as well.

A two-time All-Star and the NL wins leader in 2018, Mikolas is 6-9 this year with 79 strikeouts.
