Washington Capitals legend Alex Ovechkin isn’t done yet.
The end might be coming, though.
After the season, this is what Ovechkin told reporters about playing beyond 2025-26:
“To be honest with you, I haven’t thought about it yet, but we’ll see what’s going to happen. Obviously, I’m going to try to do my best to be able to do well next year and, how I said, we’ll see.”
The good news for Caps fans is that Ovechkin looks ready for this season.
He’s back in the gym, posting a workout video for fans to see.
Alex Ovechkin is back from vacation and back in the gym as he’s officially started training for the upcoming season.
The Capitals captain has made no decisions regarding his future after this year, which will mark his 21st NHL season.

Ovechkin enters the new NHL season as the leading goal scorer in league history. He broke Wayne Gretzky’s mark late this past season.
Now, every time Ovechkin scores, he’ll be boosting his own record. And he’ll be around at least this season to do just that.
