Canucks goal-scorer predicted to sign with other Canadian team

It is the weekend before NHL free agency begins and teams are trying to think about what free agents they will be able to sign. The 2025 offseason consists of tons of big names.

One of those big names is Vancouver right winger Brock Boeser. In CBS Sports’ NHL free agency predictions, Chris Bengel predicted that Boeser will go cross-country and sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“Boeser could be switching addresses when he enters free agency. Boeser is a crafty goal scorer that can find the back of the net from just about anywhere on the ice. After registering a 40-goal campaign in 2023-24, Boeser did see a dip in production this past season, but he still figures to be one of the top available forwards on the market,” Bengel said. “If the Maple Leafs end up losing Marner in free agency, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them try to replace that production among their top-six with Boeser.”

Though the Canucks are coming off a disappointing season where they fell six points short of a playoff spot, Boeser produced a nice season of production with 50 points in 75 games played, including a 25-goal season.

Boeser is capable of producing more. In the 2023-2024 season, he finished with 73 points in the regular season and 12 points in 12 games in the postseason.

Vancouver’s trade with Edmonton where the Canucks acquired left winger Evander Kane could be a sign of whether or not Boeser stays in Vancouver or leaves to another team.
