Camp Nou without fans? Barcelona’s plans for first home game in La Liga

As La Liga returns, FC Barcelona will not play a home game until September, as their first three La Liga games will be away from home. Barcelona played away at Mallorca for the first matchday and will play away at Levante on August 23 and at Rayo Vallecano on August 31.

Barcelona’s first home game is scheduled after the September international break. The current La Liga champions will host Valencia at home on September 14. The concern is whether the Spotify Camp Nou will be ready in time for the match and for Champions League games this season.

The club was hoping to have the Camp Nou ready for the Joan Gamper Trophy final this August, but more delays occurred. The club targets the team to finally play their home games at the new Camp Nou in September, but with ongoing construction work and permitting issues causing more delays, it may not be possible.

Helena Condis from COPE reports that nearly 4,000 workers are pushing to complete the Spotify Camp Nou in time for its September opening, working Monday to Saturday until midnight.

Barcelona’s plans for the home game vs Valencia

According to Tiempo de Juego COPE, the match against Valencia on September 14 may be played at the Camp Nou, but without fans.

The club was reportedly planning to play its home game against Valencia at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, but it won’t be possible as the stadium will host a Post Malone concert on September 12, two days before the game against Valencia.

It was reported before that Barcelona would no longer be allowed to play at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys for a third consecutive season, as they no longer have permission to play there.

Mundo Deportivo reports that it could be possible due to the many delays the Camp Nou has had.

The report suggests that Barcelona has secured the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys until the end of February 2026 as a ‘Plan B’ in case they don’t return to Camp Nou in time.

The club has already reached an agreement with the Barcelona City Council for the use of Montjuïc Stadium until a possible Champions League playoff.
