Bulls-Warriors trade pitch sends 2-time All-Star to Golden State for Jonathan Kuminga

The Chicago Bulls likely need to hit rock bottom in some sense, and one could argue that they should’ve been doing so over the past few years.

However, the Bulls continued to try to secure a play-in spot, and it’s worked for much of the past few years.

Whether that was the right or wrong decision is a matter of opinion, but it’s something the Bulls must consider moving forward.

If there’s one way for them to do so and continue to take this youth movement, it could require them to move on from Nikola Vucevic.

Vucevic is a polarizing player, but there’s no debate that a contender could use him.

When recently looking for which contender that could be, BasketNews proposed a trade idea to move him to the Golden State Warriors.

Reports have indicated that the Warriors aren’t interested in him, but there’s reason to believe the Bulls could entice them if they add more, as they want Jonathan Kuminga, according to reports.

Warriors receive: Vucevic

Bulls receive: Kuminga, Gui Santos

“The Bulls have a young roster, and Nikola Vucevic is by far the oldest player on the roster. From that perspective, this trade makes sense for Chicago—they’d be getting a much younger player in Jonathan Kuminga, someone they can continue to develop in an environment that currently suits him far better than Golden State ever did,” they wrote.

Strictly from the Bulls’ perspective, this would be a decent deal, as Kuminga has shown some promise in the NBA.

However, it’s also fair to wonder if he fits exactly what they’re looking to do.

The Bulls demonstrated last year that they’re committed to taking 3-point shots at a high rate, aiming for a significantly improved modern offense compared to what they had over the past few years.

Unfortunately, Kuminga doesn’t bring that.
