Bulls tabbed among top options for highly coveted free agent sharpshooter

The Chicago Bulls haven’t done much this offseason, but the perfect opportunity might have just presented itself.

After Malik Beasley was announced as no longer being a target in a federal investigation for gambling on Friday, he suddenly rose to the top of the league’s free agent list. While his market would have been much larger back at the start of free agency, he is likely still hoping to get a nice payday this summer.

However, with so many teams already through with free agency, it might be difficult to find the right suitor at the right price. However, Chicago could be the team that makes sense as Beasley’s next home.

Why the Bulls could make sense for Malik Beasley

As CBS Sports’ Robby Kalland noted in a recent story, Beasley’s 3-point shooting is something that the Bulls could certainly use, assuming they want to compete for a spot in the play-in in a weakened East next season. With the idea that Josh Giddey will be back in the fold, Beasley could be a perfect floor-spacer for him and others, such as Matas Buzelis, who could use some extra room to operate.

Add in that Chicago would be adding Beasley on an easily tradeable mid-level exception deal, and Kalland believes that the Bulls would make sense for the sharpshooter. If he can have a similar season to his breakout year in Detroit, he should also have no issues getting the payday he deserves in 2026. Without the pressure of playing on a contender and a full year to entirely clear his name of off-court trouble, Beasley and Chicago could be a perfect match.
