Bulls’ Nikola Vucevic situation being monitored by Western Conference contender

The Chicago Bulls are set for an odd season, but one move could shake things up around the league.

Over the past few years, the Bulls have been among the worst teams in the league. Still, the team has managed to get to the postseason for four straight years, firmly placing it in the middle of the league.

Throughout that journey, Nikola Vucevic has been the Bulls’ starting big man. After becoming an All-Star in Orlando, Vucevic hasn’t quite reached those same heights in Chicago.

That has led many to speculate about what could come next for the big man. As he enters the final year of his contract, it appears that the Bulls are interested in moving on and finding a trade partner.

Of course, that’s easier said than done. While the Bulls aren’t currently looking to buy out Vucevic, that could be the route Chicago takes at some point.

With that in mind, the Los Angeles Lakers are “closely monitoring” Vucevic’s situation in Chicago, according to a recent report from Anthony Irwin. With the Lakers still looking for the right big man to pair with LeBron James and Luka Doncic, Vucevic’s rebounding and offensive versatility would make him an interesting fit.

Although there is no guarantee that the Lakers would be the team Vucevic signs with if he’s bought out, they would likely be a top contender for the big man as they offer a potential starting role and a chance to contend for a title. While the Bulls would like to squeeze any remaining value out of Vucevic’s deal, it might be easier to simply let him walk at some point in the next few months.
