Bulls get Rudy Gobert in trade proposal that sends Nikola Vucevic to Timberwolves

Nikola Vucevic is one of the all-star-level players across the NBA who has been linked to several teams over the past few weeks and months.

He’s a cheaper option for a star-level center who can be a great addition to a team searching for a versatile center.

Does a Vucevic/Gobert trade make sense?

Bailey Bassett of ClutchPoints came up with this trade proposal:

Bulls receive: Rudy Gobert

Timberwolves receive: Nikola Vucevic, Lonzo Ball, two second-round picks

The Timberwolves might have to move off of Gobert this season to improve the roster next year, and this trade would bring in two very impactful rotational players.

Gobert is nowhere near the shooter Vucevic is, and I think the Timberwolves would mix up the roster to bring in a better shooting center even if it means trading away a better defender.

The underrated part of this deal if it happened is that Lonzo Ball could develop into a huge role in Minnesota.

Ball’s value is in an interesting spot coming off the knee injuries that kept him out for multiple seasons, but he can share minutes at the point guard position if Mike Conley comes back.

If Conley retires after next season, Ball could take on the role of being a starting point guard and could end up being the better pickup in the trade than Vucevic, long term.

I’m not sure if Chicago would want to do a deal like this with the current state of their franchise, but if they were, Minnesota would be a fun team to watch next season with these two new additions.
