Bulls’ $36 million guard predicted to be among biggest names dealt at 2026 trade deadline

The Chicago Bulls have been one of the most mediocre teams in basketball in recent years, but they might be ready to make some changes.

Over the past several years, the Bulls have failed to find any consistent success. After securing a playoff spot in the 2022 season, Chicago has suffered three straight losses in the play-in and is now in position for another rough season in 2026.

With the restricted free agency of Josh Giddey still dragging on, it’s hard to imagine the Bulls making any significant moves over the final few weeks of the offseason. Still, the Bulls have some expiring contracts they might want to deal as they look to enter a new era and build around some of their recent draft picks.

One of the biggest names that could be on the trade block when next year’s deadline comes around is Coby White. The former first-round pick has spent the past six seasons and is currently the Bulls’ longest-tenured player.

While Chicago has seen the point guard develop into one of the most intriguing scoring guards in the league, it might be the best time for the Bulls to move on, which Grant Hughes noted in his recent Bleacher Report article.

One of the biggest reasons that Hughes sees White as a prime deadline target is that the Bulls might not be willing to pay him next summer and would love to get something back before he demands a salary much steeper than his current $12.9 million figure. Although the Bulls might not be getting peak value for White, it would simply be the latest tale of Chicago’s front office holding onto a player and trading them after their value has dwindled.
