The Buffalo Bills suffered a blow to their defense before the 2025 NFL season began. Per Jordan Schultz, the Bills will be without defensive lineman DeWayne Carter for the entire season.
“Bills DT DeWayne Carter tore his Achilles and will miss the entire 2025 season,” Schultz posted on X. “The talented 2024 3rd-round pick was poised to be part of Buffalo’s defensive rotation this year. A tough blow.”
With Carter gone for the year, along with both Larry Ogunjobi and Michael Hoecht suspended for the first six games of the year due to PEDs, the Bills have the opportunity to make a big splash.
Christian Wilkins was shockingly released by the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this offseason due to an incident that occurred with a teammate where he reportedly kissed a teammate on the head without consent. On top of that, the Raiders voided the remaining $35.2 million in guarantees due to how he treated rehab from a Jones fracture in his foot. And while he was released under odd circumstances, the Bills should have their eyes on Wilkins.
Wilkins and Josh Allen have had a rivalry over the last several seasons that date back to Wilkins’ time with the Miami Dolphins. The two have gotten in a shoving match, and Wilkins was fined back in 2022 for grabbing Allen’s groin in a game.
Despite the personal rivalry, Wilkins has praised Allen in the past.
“He’s a heck of a competitor,” Wilkins said back in 2023. “I love playing against him. He definitely brings the best out of you as a defense, as an individual.”
If there is any interest in Wilkins going to Buffalo, it’s a move the Bills should make to give themselves a high-end playmaker on the interior.
