The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will field one of the most potent receiving corps in the NFL for the 2025 season. Their group was already lethal last year, and now it’s even stronger with the additions of first-round pick Emeka Egbuka and seventh-round selection Tez Johnson.
Watching the Bucs next season will be a thrill. Baker Mayfield will have no shortage of targets, while Todd Bowles will enjoy the flexibility to experiment with new strategies or select from a deep pool of weapons.
On Friday, Bucs reporter Brianna Dix wrote:
“From Mike Evans, the back-shoulder aficionado and field stretcher, to RAC-artist Chris Godwin, to Egbuka’s savvy route running and command of the catch point, the Bucs are loaded in the receiver room.”
The receiver room is well aware that their group is truly special.
“We are so connected in that room,” Tez Johnson said. “Mike [Evans] is obviously a deep threat. Emeka is a deep threat. A lot of our guys in that room are a deep threat but we have certain things that are different. I can make people miss.
“Emeka is that big, Chris Godwin-guy that can get yards after the catch. [Sterling] Shepard and me are shifty, make people miss guys. J-Mac [Jalen McMillan] is really a guy that can hit all the zones and stuff like that so when Mike says this is the best receiver room he has been a part of, I think he is right.”
The Bucs built a balanced, record-setting offense in 2024, ranking fourth in scoring with 29.5 points per game and posting the second-most points in franchise history. Tampa Bay was the only team to rank in the top five in both passing and rushing yards per game and set a new franchise record by converting third downs at a 50.9% clip.
The 2025 season is the opportunity for them to surpass these records.
