Bucky Irving injury updates: Latest news on Buccaneers RB’s status for Week 5

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a question mark at the running back position going into the Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks, as Bucky Irving is dealing with an injury.

Irving sustained the injury in the Week 4 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles, which was also his best game of the season. Irving totaled 135 scrimmage yards, including 102 through the air, and he scored a touchdown.

Head coach Todd Bowles revealed on Monday that Irving is one of several players set to undergo tests this week, leaving his status for Sunday in doubt.

“Yeah, he’s one of them,” Bowles said, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud.

Bucky Irving injury updates

On Tuesday, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport reported that Irving is dealing with “an ankle and/or foot injury,” and is “still gathering medical opinions” on the issue or issues.

“Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving is still gathering medical opinions on what’s being termed an ankle and/or foot injury, sources tell me and [Ian Rapoport],” Garafolo reported on Tuesday.

“No one has ruled Irving out vs. the Seahawks but he’s sore and his status is up in the as the Bucs return to practice tomorrow,” Garafolo added.

The Buccaneers will release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday and we’ll likely get an update from Bowles, so we should know more then.

Who is Bucky Irving’s handcuff?

If Irving can’t go, Rachaad White, who is listed as the RB2 on the depth chart, will be in for lead back duties. Sean Tucker will mix in to spell White.

For our fantasy football friends out there, the Seahawks are surrendering the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs, but White’s expected volume if Irving sits automatically puts him on the flex radar for Week 5.
