Bucks urged to add 24 ppg guard as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s co-star

There might not be any team more desperate than the Milwaukee Bucks.

After an offseason filled with controversial moves, the Bucks are set to enter next season with little hope of winning an NBA title. Still, as long as superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is in town, it will be hard to truly call anything the Bucks do a failure.

After winning the NBA title in 2021, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have tried to make it back to the mountaintop, but they haven’t been able to find that same success. With injuries seemingly getting in the way of every possible playoff run, the Bucks might simply need some luck on their side in 2026.

Of course, adding another high-volume scorer wouldn’t hurt, either. Considering the Bucks’ financial situation and limited trade assets, making that move could be tough.

However, as Sam Quinn of CBS Sports recently wrote, the Bucks could be the perfect destination for Cam Thomas. The Brooklyn Nets’ restricted free agent has had little movement on his offseason dealings with the team he’s played for his entire career.

Considering that the Nets just drafted five players in the first round and have a slew of other young players to develop, Thomas might actually be the odd man out in Brooklyn. That could open the door for the Bucks to pry him away from Brooklyn on a cheaper deal than most expect.

As Quinn noted, the Bucks might have to send out Kyle Kuzma and even a future first-round pick to make the deal happen. Although there are plenty of criticisms about Thomas’ game, his 24 points per game from last season could be a massive difference-maker for Milwaukee’s backcourt next season.
