The Milwaukee Bucks are set to be one of the league’s busiest teams as free agency begins on Monday night, but some of their big moves could come on the trade market.
The Bucks have been looking to get back into championship contention over the past few weeks after falling in the first round for the third straight year. While injuries have played a part in each of those early exits, the Bucks still must find a way to get back among the best in the league.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future is at the forefront of any move the Bucks make this offseason, but they can’t allow his potential trade request to cloud their judgment. Over the next couple of weeks, the Bucks will surely make various moves to help their chances of winning in next season and beyond.
One of those moves will almost certainly be trading away Pat Connaughton. In a recent report from NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Bucks are actively working to trade the veteran after he exercised his $9.4 million player option.
Connaughton’s departure will likely be nothing more than a salary dump for the Bucks as they look to have more flexibility throughout the offseason. While Connaughton’s role has diminished over the past few years, his time with the Bucks won’t be forgotten in Milwaukee anytime soon.
