It was an ugly ending for the Milwaukee Bucks and Damian Lillard. When the two sides came together in a blockbuster trade involving the Portland Trail Blazers for Jrue Holiday and other pieces, the hope was for Lillard to be one of the better players in the NBA again.
He was decent during his time in Milwaukee, but nothing like what he once was.
According to a recent report from Chris Haynes of NBA TV, there was much more that transpired behind the scenes. According to Haynes, the Bucks were not interested in Lillard going to Portland to rehab his injury near his family.
“Aaron Goodwin, Damian Lillard’s agent, reached out to the Bucks about a month ago and informed them that Dame would like to rehab back home in Portland and stay with his kids… and I was told that some people within the Bucks did not approve of that,” he said.
There have been many reports about the Bucks in the past year and a half from Haynes, as he and Lillard have a close relationship.
If there’s one person who knows what’s going on with Lillard and the Bucks, it’s likely Haynes, even if he’s stretching the truth a bit.

It’s tough to say that the Bucks are in the right in this scenario, but they might not be too wrong, either. They likely wanted Lillard around the locker room and training in front of them so they could understand exactly what he’s doing.
It’s an unfortunate situation all around, but the relationship is now over, and neither side has to worry about it too much.
