Bucks predicted to flip Damian Lillard for pair of Western Conference 20-point scorers

The Milwaukee Bucks were dealt a major blow for the 2026 season even before the 2025 season ended when it was announced that Damian Lillard tore his Achilles. Doing so means he’ll likely miss next season in its entirety.

That’s bad news for Milwaukee because that’s $54 million the Bucks will spend next season rehabbing. While everyone should wish Lillard a speedy and full recovery, it might be time to pull the plug. If the Bucks decide to part ways with Lillard, SB Nation’s James Hansen floated a trade idea between the Bucks and Utah Jazz in which the two sides would swap the following.

Jazz get: Lillard, unprotected 2031 Bucks first-round pick, pick swap in 2032

Bucks get: John Collins, Collin Sexton

Hansen explained why the Bucks would do the trade, writing, “Both players can play with Giannis with their ability to spread the floor. They’ve both been having huge resurgences in their careers and could absolutely contribute to a winning season in Milwaukee, providing much-needed depth. On top of that, both players have expiring contracts, allowing Milwaukee to go after someone in free agency to play with Giannis, if they want to move on after next season.”

This is a trade the Bucks have to consider based on availability alone. It also maintains their cap flexibility, giving them options for the 2026 offseason. Both Collins and Sexton have averaged over 20 points during their career, and both are younger than Lillard.

If the Bucks think it’s not worth keeping Lillard around and still want to win with Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Jazz might be their best bet as a trade partner.
