Giannis Antetokounmpo has long strides.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar is also one of the great users of the Euro step, the side-stepping attack of the basket to weave around defenders.
When you combine those facts, it can look occasionally like Antetokounmpo has traveled, even when he doesn’t.
But once in a while, Giannis might get away with one.
He definitely did on Tuesday night against the New York Knicks.

MORE: Marvin Bagley is still in the NBA, and fans are shocked
Six steps from the time Antetokounmpo stopped his dribble until he shot.
There is a key nuance here: The steps taken while the player does his “gather” don’t count toward the travel counter, with the gather being when Giannis is taking the ball from his dribble into control in his hand.
Even if we say Antetokounmpo used two steps for the gather, that’s still four more steps that he got in before shooting.
That’s a few too many, any way you want to count it.
