The Milwaukee Bucks have had an interesting offseason thus far, and their moves have impacted the entire league.
Over the past few weeks, the Bucks have been at the center of seemingly every rumor. Of course, that is because of Giannis Antetokounmpo and his uncertain future.
While both sides have seemed content to continue their partnership up to this point, things can change in an instant in the NBA. However, the Bucks have made plenty of moves in the first 24 hours of free agency, including the signing of Myles Turner and the waiving of Damian Lillard, to ensure they can compete at a high level next season and beyond.
While the Bucks have made plenty of moves, their activity could also be the reason for some teams’ stagnancy. As suggested by The Athletic’s John Hollinger, teams could be waiting on Antetokounmpo’s verdict on the current roster before making any big moves.
Hollinger listed the Los Angeles Lakers first, who have had one of the most underwhelming offseasons thus far, before adding teams such as the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, who have been rumored as Antetokounmpo destinations if he wants out.
Despite the Bucks’ big moves, Chris Haynes has reported that Antetokounmpo wasn’t happy. That report was a direct result of Lillard’s departure, but it’s apparent that Brook Lopez leaving could also sway Antetokounmpo.

In any case, the Bucks still have Antetokounmpo on the roster and likely won’t entertain a trade until he asks out. That means any teams eyeing the superstar and putting their plans on hold could be setting themselves up for failure ahead of next season.
