Bucks former fan favorite Khris Middleton named potential option for Knicks

The New York Knicks have an open roster spot, but it’s crucial that the front office doesn’t simply sign a player to fill the void.

If anything, the Knicks can enter next season still with that roster spot open and go from there.

Ultimately, the front office has to do what’s best for the organization, but there’s reason to believe they could have an opportunity to add somebody of significance if they wait.

When searching for who that might be, The Daily Knicks recently linked them to Khris Middleton, a former NBA champion with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The thought of Middleton might be better than the actual player, given some of his injuries, but it’s tough to deny what the Charleston, South Carolina native has done throughout his career.

Middleton has put up 20-plus points in multiple seasons throughout his career, and if he’s somewhat healthy, he’d be a great fit on a cheap deal.

“Now, no credible source has indicated that Smart is likely to be bought out by the Washington Wizards, at least not yet. That said, it is not hard to see why it could potentially get there. The Wizards are in the midst of a rebuild and will likely want to prioritize playing the young talent on their roster this season.

“At the same time, they have multiple veteran guards on their team, such as Smart, Khris Middleton, and CJ McCollum, all of whom would likely relish the idea of competing for a championship as their careers start to wind down,” they wrote.

If the Knicks could land Middleton for their bench, they’d arguably have the best bench in the NBA, given that he’s a clear starter when healthy.

Unfortunately, the health is tough to deny, but the hope is for Middleton to eventually figure things out on that front.

He’s a great person, too, and someone the Knicks fan base would love.
